MOTH: 1. What inspired you to become a writer?

SK: 1. I began writing as a way of coping with my own personal issues when I was a teenager. I started writing poems and short fiction stories just to distract myself from reality… and the more I wrote, the more I realized how much I enjoyed being creative and how it took my mind off real-life issues. I realized that writing truly made me happy and so I made it a goal of mine to become a successful writer.

MOTH: 2. The title of your last book?

SK: 2. Zoey’s Memory. It is a young adult fictional mystery.

MOTH: 3. Ebook – for or against?

SK: 3. For!

MOTH: 4. How do you deal with bad reviews?

SK: 4. I remind myself that not everyone will like my work because it isn’t for everyone and that’s okay.

MOTH: 5. Is it better to promote yourself online or in other media?

SK: 5. I believe it depends on your social media followers, how you promote, and when. I utilize both social media and advertising platforms online.

MOTH: 6. Which writers had the most influence on your writing style?

SK: 6. Ned Vizzini, Gayle Froman, and Sandra Brown are all amazing writers.

MOTH: 7. What success do you expect from your work?

SK: 7. The only success I expect from my work is for it to reach readers that want to stick around for when I publish my next story.

MOTH: 8. What is your target audience?

SK: 8. My target audience is young adult readers ages 15- 25. I like writing emotional, dark humor, mysteries that deal with heavy subjects such as mental health, social/family issues, drama, and death.

MOTH: 9. Describe your last work in 12 words.

SK: 9. A young adult fiction mystery that deals with grief and mental health.

MOTH: 10. Advice for future writers?

SK: 10. Nothing happens overnight and your work is not the same as everyone else’s, so try not to compare yourself to others!

MOTH: 11. Where would you like your writing to take you as a guest?

SK: 11. Honestly, I am open to any new opportunities that my writing may take me!

MOTH: 12. Holding your next book promotion?

SK: 12. I am currently holding one November 3rd- November 7th as a .99 cent ebook sale. I will hold another promotion around Christmas
