MOTH: 1. What inspired you to become a writer?
– My tryst with anxiety few years ago triggered an unknown avenue for me. I developed and went through chronic panic attacks for 3 years. None of this was familiar. Basic chores had become extremely difficult to execute as I had this fear looming over me. Interaction with people on regular conversations had become difficult too. The only escape I had was to divert my attention to something else. Thankfully I took to books than consuming drugs or developing any damaging habits. Reading into books I began researching about anxiety. Through my reads I started blogging on emotions, our habits, our thought patterns and so on which was appreciated by readers. This gave me the confidence to go on to write a book on how we come to see happiness and why we should question societal dogmas.
MOTH: 2. The title of your last book?
– This is the first book I have published and it is titled – Shift Left. This is a software term used in early testing of a code to avoid bugs in a program at a later stage. I have juxtaposed it to human emotions to test our damaging habits early and therefore avoid serious mental instabilities.
MOTH: 3. Ebook – for or against?
– I prefer audio books. It is easy, helps me to run through books faster and saves physical space.
MOTH: 4. How do you deal with bad reviews?
– Every feedback or comment, good or bad is a learning. Learning is growth.
MOTH: 5. Is it better to promote yourself online or in other media?
– The content is important; any medium is secondary. It should help to solve your purpose. That is been done well on online platforms today if used wisely.
MOTH: 6. Which writers had most influence on your writing style?
– I resonate considerably with modern thinkers like Yuval Noah Harari, Sam Harris, Mark Manson
MOTH: 7. What success do you expect from your work?
– I will be pleased, when people are able to implement my strategies and see success in it.
MOTH: 8. What is your target audience?
– Shift Left is a counter culture narrative and is meant for all. But I feel the millennials and Gen-Z will relate to it quite a bit.
MOTH: 9. Describe your last work in 12 words.
– A counter culture narrative towards emotional well being and happiness for all.
MOTH: 10. Advice for future writers?
– Keep learning from every grain of experience you encounter. Your learnings are invaluable.
MOTH: 11. Where would you like your writing to take you as a guest?
– I never in my wildest dreams imagined to write a book. Now that I am here, I’d like to relish this for a while and be myself. I only hope it does not make me someone else to my family and my loved ones
MOTH: 12. Holding your next book promotion?
– A lot of activity is happening on social media and online webinars. It is a great boon for our generation to have these tools. But we must learn to use them with great care.
